Our team
Dr Justin Tate
Justin uses a functional approach to Osteopathic treatment, which draws on an extensive range of osteopathic techniques including myofascial and positional releases, various styles of massage, cranial technique and osteopathic joint manipulation, to promote improvement in function of the body, not just relieve pain. Many of these techniques (especially cranial) are not utilised by all Osteopaths but possessing a broad array of techniques allows Justin to be very adaptable, able to treat both adults and children presenting with a huge diversity of complaints.
Justin advocates many self-help practices such as stretching, co-ordination and mobility exercises, core stability exercises, nutrition, stress management, postural advice and ergonomic support, to help you get yourself better quicker and possibly avoid the need for treatment all together.
Justin is also known for his keen interest in chronic conditions, including inflammatory and immunological disorders, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.
Justin’s Master’s research examining the skills of sports trainers in community level Australian Rules football and he has developed a special interest in sports-related problems, especially in the prevention of injuries during sport.
Dr Lachlan Allen
Lachlan is very passionate about Osteopathy and its ability to help people achieve a healthy body. He believes health is only achieved by treating the whole body, not just the sore bits. When the muscles and joints move well and the nerves and bloodstream functions well, the body is then able to heal itself.
His treatments include a skilled diagnosis, hands on treatment moving and working the joints and muscles, soft tissue techniques as well as manipulations when required for loosening muscles and joints. He also believes that you have an important role in your own health and is able to provide advice on rehabilitation, self-help exercises, ergonomics and lifestyle modifications.
Lachlan is also a firm believer that integration between different health care modalities is important in patient care. His Masters examined the relationship between manual therapists and oral health professionals in Victoria.
He is also trained in neuromuscular dry needling which uses acupuncture needles as a gentle way to release tight muscles.
